home made drinks

Fruits and vegetables juices are at the top of detox foods list.. I called it "life elixir " .. Gives all the nutrition you need, and it works like detox agent, immune booster in your body.. If you need extra energy for winter days, it's perfect.. Also great starts for “detox days”, before your breakfast..
Before starting, you need a juicer for making your own juice.. Don't worry about the buying most expensive model, but you need to get powerful, stronger model to have most nutritional juice.. Especially for veggies, you need at least 1000 Watt power engine..
All fruits and vegetables should be fresh, washed, peeled and cored before start juicing.. Ginger should be peeled, and chopped ½”inch long..
There are so many combinations of fruit- veggie juice recipes out there.. Mine is little different, because I tried to combine more greens and less fruits than others.. It took couple months to find the perfect combination, and taste .. If juice will be too thick for you, you can always dilute with water..
Here is our secret, everyday  juice regimen:

Ingredients:
1 Granny Smith apple
1 Pink Lady or Red Delicious apple
1 Bartlett or Asian ( hard to find ) pear
1 big cucumber
1 red bell pepper
1 tomato ( big size )
1 big red beet
1 inch long fresh ginger
2 medium size carrots
3 stems of celery stalks
2 red chard leaves
2 kale leaves
Handful of parsley
Handful of spinach
5-6 leaves of dandelion ( excellent diuretics )
Juice them together, and enjoy. It will give you 4 big glasses of elixir. You can store it in refrigerator for next day, but I prefer fresh juice every day..
Be adventurous, whatever you have in your fridge, just add it.. Sometimes chunks of pineapples, kiwi, mango, or cauliflowers. Juicing is great way to refresh your fridge, too..

Another my recommendation for everyday drink beside our "elixir" will be chia seed-fruit mixture. We became addicted, since last year when we first found out the chia seeds drink.
Chia seeds excellent source for fiber and protein. One little drink can provide 2000 mg. omega 3 fatty acid for you, more than salmon fillets.
Chia seeds are coming from ancient Aztec and Mayan culture, and known superfood, powerful antioxidant, commonly consumed in Mexico and South America, but is not widely known in Europe.
Chia seeds placed in water or fruit juice are consumed in Mexico and known as "chia fresca". The soaked seeds are gelatinous in texture and are used in yogurts, puddings and desserts. Ground chia seed is used in baked goods mix with  flour, including breads, cakes, pancakes and biscuits. Chia seed may be eaten raw as a whole seed,
Chia sprouts also are used in a similar way as alfalfa sprouts in salads, sandwiches and other dishes.

You can find many brands of bottled drinks in natural specialty store, but I would like to give you a recipe explains "how to make your chia drink at home"

Ingredients for berry delight chia:

1 measurement of organic chia seed - water mixture (explained below )

1 cup organic raspberry, washed and dry

1 cup organic blueberry, washed and dry

1 cup organic blackberry, washed and dry

1 lime juice

I mix seeds with water enough for two, me and my husband.

Mix 1.5 tablespoons of chia in 3/4 cup of drinking water. (That equals to 2 tablespoons per cup if you want to mix up larger amounts.)
Let stand for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally to ensure all seeds are absorbing water. Seeds have ability to hold water 50 times more than their weight. Longer is better if you want to mix it up at night, put in the fridge and use it in the morning. Seeds become gel thickness when absorb the water.
I usually don't make more than I can use over four or five days. I actually make those four measurements at a once and use one by one for four days. It saves my time, and hold it well.
Each day, I have a chia gel ready to use. When I'm on the last container, I make four more.
Blend all the berries and lime juice in a blender, if you want you can add touch of sugar (we usually like to taste of fruit sugar only )
Mix one measurement chia-water gel with berry mixture, shake well. Enjoy!!

Summer days watermelon - cantaloupe -chia mixture is our favorite refreshing drink serve with fresh spearmint leaves. You can make smoothies ,cocktails with seeds or simply add to your breakfast.
I would recommend medium size glass of drink mixture every day. If you have low blood pressure  or taking medication to lower blood pressure,be careful, and don't overly consume chia, because seeds are capable to decrease blood pressure in dangerous level.

Last couple years drinking tea becomes more popular than ever.I want to mention about our favorite teas, which we usually switch weekly one to another to enjoy each one's benefits. We try to avoid to use tea bags, always buy bulk lose teas. When you are buying green teas, choose the best quality possible, and get small amount, because green tea can loose their taste and valuable Catechins when they sit a long time. Container for tea must be airtight, and store in dark place.

Oolong tea
is a very high quality tea, which is extremely well known and greatly appreciated by tea addictive in south China, and by Chinese citizens that live throughout Southeast Asia. Some Oolong teas taste very fruity and sweet, and have a honey type of aroma. While other types can be very thick, and come with a woody and roasted smell. Still other kinds smell like flowers, and taste extremely green or fresh.

The big difference between green tea and Oolong tea is the processing. Every type of  tea comes from the Camellia Sinensis plant, although there are many different types of it. All tea leaves are green when they are first picked. Green tea is heated up to stop the usual oxidation of the tea leaf.

Whereas, Oolong tea is set aside and maintained in stringently controlled highly sensitive environments to oxidize at its own pace, which is the reason for the wide diversity of smells and tastes it is available in. Color of oolong tea usually between green and brown, dark greenish tones.

Oolong tea benefits:
One of the biggest problems that many people face in todays world, is stress. Though drinking a nice cup of Oolong tea is  likely reduce stress, also help to reduce cholesterol level..
Oolong tea is well known for being able to make you slim! Oolong tea is a very efficient product that certainly could help you to lose a substantial amount of weight. The reason Oolong tea is thought to help people lose weight  because it increases their metabolism and fat burning. You see, when you drink Oolong tea, you have already done a good thing with switching from normal tea, coffee or soda based drinks.
Fortunately, Oolong tea has lesser amount of caffeine compared to coffee, which makes it healthier.

Green teas;

It's a superb diuretics, can be use during urinary tract infection.
The tea has been found to be rich in natural antihistamine and anti-inflammatory substances. If you suffer from springtime allergies, drinking nettle tea three times a day proved to be beneficial.

Echinacea tea;
Echinacea also known coneflowers; is a wildflower that flourishes in meadows or wet valleys in the Midwestern United States.Echinacea works to increase the activity of the immune system by stimulating white blood cells, which attack the viruses and bacteria that lead to illness or infection. This also makes it very beneficial for people with AIDS since their immune systems are weakened. This application of Echinacea is being extensively researched, since the full effect of the immune system on AIDS and cancer is still unknown. Echinacea is also every effective in treating respiratory ailments like colds. Some research has found Echinacea to be effective as an antiviral or antifungal, which also helps to fight infection.
We usually mix Echinacea with lavender flowers that give extra flavor and taste.

Chamomile with rosehip and cloves tea;
Chamomile tea's most well-known benefit is sleep aid. It is known for its relaxing and soothing properties and is often taken before bed to promote restful sleep.
