Happy Mother's Day To All

Mom; how can be buying gifts, flowers, sending card or baking your favorite cakes enough to show my feelings?  Words are not enough to describe my
gratitude, kisses are not adequate to show my appreciation..

Every mom deserves better.. BUT YOU MOM....When I was young your limitless love and tender care meant a lot to me!  It was easy to spoil with this huge -no return expected  attention.. Everyday - you didn't miss a single day - you walk with me to the elementary school while you were busy to preparing my favorite goodies rest of the day.. When I grow up a little, you listened, changed, shared and became my best friend..high school years were hard for both of us, my scores were  your biggest proud, my success was yours, my sleepless night shared with your company along with tons of coffee. we walked through to medical school step by step, you were with me every single minute. You were never let me cook or clean 'till my early 30's, or even take my plate from table to kitchen ( I'm glad to watched you and grandmother while cooking and baking ! ) because my study was more important than anything.. My tears are still your pain, my smile is your cheer, my love is always priceless to you.. I never grow up in your eyes, I'm still the same 5 years old girl running around the house.

Now, I can appreciate more and more what you did to me.
Yes, I studied the hardest possible, pushing myself always to find my best, try to break boundries and believe to do anything if I want, because of you, mom..
You gave me this confidence, you gave me your creative spirit.. You always proud with us while putting yourself on the second position, but now our turn,I want you to know you're our biggest proud for all time.. Not just being a wonderful mother and mentor, close to be 80 years old, but still working very hard, 8 hours a day- 7 days a week -for creating beautiful art quilts to show you can still be productive. Don't stop spreading happiness and kindness around you, mom !
Last word, if I had a chance to pick my mom, no question  you'd be "the only one ".
Happy Mother's Day !

I know, I’m ignoring for a while, and I know I’m also late posting my New Year message.

2012 was a super busy but what an amazing year. Even though way too much things going on around me, I feel very grateful to have enough time for my family especially for my mom during holidays.. This year we had a very special Christmas because of her. She just brings so much energy and happiness in our home. We sewed, cooked, baked, tried new recipes, laughed and had so much fun together.. Mom, you are the most special gift we ever had for Christmas! Thank you!

We all had the busiest time of the year during holiday season.. Baking, decorating, shopping, hosting, sharing and we give love to our family and friends more than ever.. After we had all the sugar loaded goodies during this special time, now we have to get back on the track immediately. Having a detox week after holiday season, may be a good start for a new year. During this week;

-         Drink 10-12 glasses of water a day

-         Sleep well

-         Don’t skip breakfast

-         Eat lots of veggies and fruits

-         Stay away from sugar

I have lots of nutritious - healthy and new recipes for 2013 on my list, and  I can’t wait to post them for you !

I’m wishing healthy, safe, peaceful and flavorful New Year to you all !!

Happy 4th. America !!
4th. of July is my favorite holiday, because of weather, outdoor celebrations, food and of course fire works.. Doesn't matter how you celebrate this meaningful holiday, either with picnic at the beach, BBQ at your back yard, friends parties or getaway for couple of days; keep in your mind, you have so many options for food and drinks; hot dogs, hamburgers and steaks can be easily substitute with veggie burgers, grilled sea food and healthy appetizers.. Celebrate wisely, enjoy and feel good about yourself even after the party.
I'm wishing safe and happy 4th. of July to everybody.. Grand finale ? Of course fire works !!

Here we are, after four- crazy busy months, we end up with over 180 recipies, and over 123.000 viewer, and lots of comments-e-mails from all over the world IN LESS THEN 5 MONTHS..Web site shows over years of work ( very hard work !! ), and lots of information.

I’m glad you appreciated what I’m trying to do in this website. I’m not a chef nor cook, but best thing I know how our body works, what is good what is bad for our body and how we digest our food. I believe anyone can cook food one way or another, but all we need to learn “how to cook and eat healthy”. I created this web site to be available for everybody. People can trust in every way,and try any recipes without worrying. If you realize I didn’t have a single fried food recipe or any whipping cream – sour cream in my recipes. These are not just food recipes actually life recipes, these are all about how we suppose to cook, how we suppose to choose food, how we suppose to prepare and consume..

Over a long time period, lots of my friends, family and colleagues always said I touched so many people's life, changed their life style and influenced them in a good way.  Besides United States, everyday I'm hearing from different part of the world, China, United Kingdom, Japan, Russian Federation, Poland, Check Republic, Netherlands..

Reader numbers are growing surprisingly fast, this tells me; I’m touching their life one way or another. This is an amazing feeling.. So I would like to say "THANK YOU" to all of you out there, somewhere in this planet. THANK YOU letting me to be part of your life.

Easter and Passover weekend is coming !!

Easter is celebrating Jesus Christ’s resurrection from the death and most important holiday in Christianity’s. Easter also called “moveable feast “ because it doesn’t fall on a set day every
year, as most holidays do. Besides religious importance, Easter commercially tightly binds with bunny, basket, egg and chicks figurines. Bunny symbolize fertility, chicks and eggs sybolize the reborn and rejuvenation.

Easter starts with Good Friday which always the Friday just before Easter, continues with Holly Saturday which is commemorate Jesus Christ's body laid in the tomb, then huge feast on Sunday which is a celebration to resurrection, and ends with Lent which 40 days period of fasting.

Every country has different custom for Easter celebration. Common custom is "blessing the basket" which Easter basket that filled with sample of food that are eaten on Easter feast. People carry the basket to the church and get bless by the priest then exchange the baskets with next neighbors.

During Passover, which starts at sunset Friday and runs through April 14, Jews in worldwide avoid yeast bread and eat matzo cracker which  made just flour and water. They avoid most of the grains such as corn, wheat, and gluten. Some observant Jews spend weeks before Passover for throughly house cleaning. Kitchen counter scrubbed well to remove any traces of flour and yeast.
This year, instead of chocolate bunnies and marshmallow chicks, your Easter basket may filled with good artisan cheeses, home made Easter bread, nuts and spring vegetables.
Happy Easter and Passover to everybody !!

Last couple of weeks, we had so many things happening, we ate out four nights a week. But last night dinner was out of this world. It was one of a kind experience in my culinary life. I don’t know how can I find the words to describe my feelings. When I mentioned use five senses when we’re eating on how to eat section, I meant last night dinner experience. It wasn’t just the good-delicious food, presentation, plating, scents, whole picture was right. Ingredients were familiar for us, they used lots of seaweeds, Asian inspires dishes, but how they present the food was amazing. OK, here are some clues;

-         Juniper berry infused pillows (beautifully covered by white, well starch Belgium linens) deflating by heavy plates when you were eating.. Imagine the scent fill in your nose.

-         Seaweeds covered drift log, used as a server plate for sea foods, king crab came in the crab shell, and other were in clam or mussel shell top on the huge log..

-         Beautiful thick white birch bark, decorate with evergreen branches, shave peppermint flavor ice used as snow around them. Desserts were served top on the log branches.

-         We cleaned our palate between the meals, with beet-citrus juices. It was served in huge ice block, drill by  power drill, and fill with juices. We used glass straw to drink inside of those openings..

-         Grand finale was something. Before serving last dessert, table was covered by a stretchy-rubber ( unpacked in front of you ,smelled beautifully),then pastry chef came out and decorated the table cloth with sprinkled sauces and flowers, and he broke huge dark chocolate bowl in middle of the table. We ate directly from table cloth, literally scraping every corner.

So I didn’t have enough time to cook or write for updates, but I learned many things to share with you. I’ll try to think more out of box when I’m cooking, and I’ll try to give you very interesting recipes and articles.

"It's not that easy being green;
Having to spend each day the color of the leaves.
When I think it could be nicer being red, or yellow or gold...
or something much more colorful like that.

It's not easy being green.
It seems you blend in with so many other ord'nary things.
And people tend to pass you over 'cause you're
not standing out like flashy sparkles in the water
or stars in the sky.

But green's the color of Spring.
And green can be cool and friendly-like.
And green can be big like an ocean, or important like a mountain,
or tall like a tree.

When green is all there is to be
It could make you wonder why, but why wonder why?

Wonder, I am green and it'll do fine, it's beautiful!
And I think it's what I want to be."

I love Kermit the frog's song "It's not that easy being green" from Sesame Street..This month we all are going to be green during St.Patrick’s day celebrations. We have a big Irish community in our city, and St.Patrick’s Day always a big deal here, not to mention even we dye our river in green, buildings turn their lights into green, young or old every single person put on their green t-shirts proudly. Almost whole month we eat, sing and dance like an Irish.

Isn’t The America all about, home for diversity, melting in big pot and living together harmoniously with many cultures..Learning from each other, helping to each other, when living proudly under one flag and as a nation without forgetting our roots. So this month everybody will becomes Irish. I want to celebrate St.Patrick’s day and spring together, and I will try to cook “green” as much as I can, with green color ingredients. I called this “green month challenge”.

I already posted couple Matcha ( green tea powder ) combined recipes with beautiful green color. Hope you enjoy being “green” this month.. Happy St.Patrick’s Day to everybody but especially our good Irish friends John, Niall and Brian..

Happy Chinese New Year !!

Chinese New Year is the longest and most important celebration in the Chinese calendar. 2012 is year 4709 by Chinese calendar, and year of Dragon.
Legend has it that in ancient times, Buddha asked all the animals to meet him on Chinese New Year. Twelve came and Buddha named a year after each one. He announced that the people born in each animal’s year would have some of that animal’s personality. This year born babies are going to be innovative, brave and passionate.
At Chinese New Year celebrations people wear red clothes, decorate with poems on red paper, and give children “lucky money” in red envelops. Red symbolizes the fire, and according old legend can drive away bad luck.
In China, New Year is a time for family reunion. Family members gather each other’s homes for visits and share meals, most significantly big feast on New Years Eve.
This weekend we went to China Town and watch the “dragon dance”, we’ll be there on Wednesday for New Year Celebration, too.

This Christmas we wanted something different than other years. We decided to make our own Christmas tree. We bought white painted river birch branches from floral supply( for next year I will collect & paint our branches from garden which we have 3 huge river birches at the back of our property. It's going to be wonderful recycling project. ) My husband built the structure of tree with wood base attached the white pvc pipe ) and I put the branches together with white ties, tried to give tree shape on them. Finish with lots of string Christmas lights. We just love the huge flame looks on the windows. Happy Holidays !
